About Birdrangers

Birdrangers is a small family business operated by Monica & Simon Clayton. We're birders, as well as tourism and wildlife specialists, based at Gibraltar Reserve in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Australia, one of the most biodiverse parts of Australia.

You can visit us at our private nature reserve, 4 hours from Brisbane, or we can provide tours for small groups or individuals, observing and experiencing the diverse fauna & flora of the region.

We also provide services as an Environmental Consultant, producing natural resource management plans and strategies,  Flora & Fauna Surveys, Property Management & Bushfire Management Plans.

Simon (Diploma, Conservation & Land Management) has over 25 years birding & field study experience in Australia, UK, and Europe, various parts of Asia, the South Pacific Islands & Ocean, Cuba & New Zealand. He's qualified as a licensed bird-bander and is an independent environmental consultant. 

Monica (Bachelor of Business, Cert. Advanced Tour Operations/Tour Guiding & E-Marketing) has over 15 years experience in the travel & tourism industry and has worked in North America, and travelled in the South Pacific Islands, Europe, Asia and New Zealand, experiencing nature-based tourism.

In 2003 they purchased high conservation value land, and established it as a Wildlife Refuge for conservation, sustainable tourism, research and production.

 

 

Gibraltar Reserve Wildlife Refuge

Birdrangers is based at and supports this 188 hectare Wildlife Refuge at the foothills of Gibraltar Range.

Over 250 species of native plant and 190 bird species are recorded. The research & monitoring of birds on the reserve assists land management and collects data for Birds Australia.

 

Environmental Consultant

 

Simon provides Environmental Consultant services in the north east of New South Wales, producing Development Applications, Review of Environmental Factors,  Property Management Plans, Bush Fire Management Plans and other documents for a variety of regional land managers.
